Non.or.and is an architecture studio based in Barcelona. Its name, Non(architecture) or (interior) and (design), reflects the exploration of the gap between architecture and the object. It's architecture, it's interior design, it's design. It's some, all, or none of these.

At non.or.and, we project identity. Each project is approached as an exercise. Every new exercise has two fundamental premises in its statement: observation and listening. We listen to our clients, their businesses, their habits, concerns and aspirations. We observe the context, its history, use, and surroundings.

Concept

From our design perspective, the concept is the abstraction of ideas that arise to respond to a need through its function, simultaneously serving as a hinge to generate value through its image.

Context

Program

A concept in a context outlines an architectural program. The ground is our main project resource or tool to address the requirements of the architectural program. It works as a single plane where paths between spaces are drawn, each accommodating a specific section of the program. This ground is continuous in nature and folds at different levels to shape different functions.

Volumetrics

We enclose in exempt volumes secondary sections of the program. These provide functional support to paths between main spaces, such as bathrooms, communication cores, storage, or facilities. We precisely position these volumes that visually dialogue with each other and the different spaces they delimit.

Materiality

We compose based on references from the cultural environment or identity that go beyond the physical location. Natural, simple, and honest materials treated with dignity transformed into finishes and construction details for durable and elegant solutions.
